According to officials, it seems that the North Koreans have up the ante with the US government, whereby news reports have stated that the Communist country has recently reprocessed 8,000 spent nuclear fuel rods, which has enough plutonium to increase their overall nuclear stockpile.
Nuclear specialists have mentioned that the spent nuclear fuel rods can produce enough weapons-grade plutonium for at least one atomic bomb. With the North Koreans increasing their threats for world peace, this might somehow force world leaders to hold bilateral talks with the Communist regime.
Personally, I believe that Americans, the Japanese, Russians and even the Chinese should take such nuclear threats seriously, as clearly, North Korea has the technology and capability to hit strategic targets via these nuclear bombs.
Do you think that world leaders will hold bilateral talks with the North Korean regime?

Obama had earlier promised to revolutionize the entire healthcare sector, in which the healthcare overhaul will make the healthcare system to be more accessible to people who can not afford this. In fact, Obama had earlier called for the healthcare reforms as one of the most critical milestone in the history of the health sector. The healthcare bill will provide the necessary healthcare support to Americans, which I believe will ultimately help increase the overall quality of life in America.
Obama added that it is the time to work harder and make the things possible for the millions who are not insured in the country. This has been an indefinable goal in the US policy for so many years now. Obama also added that the healthcare reform will require participation from existing doctors, hospitals, drug makers and insurance companies, in order to ensure success in the healthcare overhaul. As a result of the reform, the entire healthcare overhaul will ultimately provide Americans with the necessary means to get the appropriate healthcare help from the right healthcare institutions, and this mainly applies to the poor, who can not afford treatments under the present healthcare system.
Personally, I believe that the healthcare overhaul is a noble cause, and that Americans should think about their future health instead of the gigantic cause of implementing the overhaul. Just like what Obama said, nobody should die because they cannot afford healthcare, and nobody should go broke when they fall sick.

Barack Obama holds the point of view that to end the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, he mentioned that 13,000 more troops should be sent to Afghanistan along with another 5,000 personnel to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan. On the other hand, Obama has also called for a review on the US policy in Afghanistan.
By deploying the troop he said, this will provide a comprehensive approach to the troop present there. By deploying a few more thousands of troops in the battlefield will be a good step as it will represent country’s power across Afghanistan and this will fulfill the US motives, which is to win the war as quickly as possible.
The additional forces will come from several different segments like medical, engineering, police and military experts. The additional US troops that will be sent by Obama to Afghanistan for the Iraq war is estimated to be around 34,000. The total number of troops together with the ones sent by Bush will be equivalent to 68,000. It is expected that this number along with the combat forces will be able to meet up the needs and the demands of the war commanders. The issue of sending additional troops by Obama has been exaggerated by the White House and Pentagon. As when the actual number of troops sent by Obama is compared to the past the number of troops sent by the Bush administration, clearly, the previous administration has sent more troops into the battlefield.

According to a survey done at national level, the data that was collected in the survey shows that the economy is able to recover from the recent economic recession. It is believed the economy is reviving and growing at a slow pace again.
The economic recession that started at the end of 2008, has been the longest of all the economic depressions faced by the United States. However, there are growth signs seen in US economy which is a clear indication that the economy is getting better and improving. Investments in the housing market can change the scenario and add to the overall economic growth. Even though the growth is seen in the economy, people are still facing problems with unemployment. There are a lot of people who are hit badly by recession, and most of them lost their jobs and are still unemployed at present moment. The unemployment rate is expected to rise by 10% in 2010 and this eventually fall by the end of 2010. It is suggested that by 2010, this particular year will be one of the busiest years ahead for the White House and for Capitol Hill. Obama promises to take up appropriate steps to bring higher economic growth for the country, as well as prosperity to the nation by introducing the apt economic policy.

The overall US retail performances saw a 1.5% drop in its overall performances. As far as for the sales of the cars that are concerned, this represents an overall dip of 10.4% in the entire industry performances. It is also observed that the GDP for America is estimated at 3% and this is because of the growing consumer expenditure.
On the other hand, consumer demand for goods and services forms an important part of economic activity which contributes to the overall GDP performances. So, there should be a constant watch on consumer activities as they contribute directly to the country’s GDP. There was a surge seen in the car sales during the month of August as US consumers took advantage of the cash for clunkers program.
And as for September, there has been a rise in the demand at the gasoline stations. The estimated growth was estimated to be at 1.1% which is quite good. Apart from the rise in demand of the cars and at the gasoline station, retails sales also rose to 0.4%. The demand and sale at the furniture stores also rose to 1.4%. But, the decline in sales last month has been the greatest. The commerce department is suggesting that there was a decline of 1.5% in last month’s retail sales. This decline is a huge loss to the businesses. There was however other signs of economic strength which shown by the furniture stores and retail stores such as Wal Mart.

Due to the adverse effects from the economic turmoil, the American International Group has decided to sell its Taiwan insurance unit for $2.15 Billion. The decisions made by AIG executives are wise enough. The company had borrowed a large sum of money from the US government during the economic meltdown and the insurer also lost many assets in the event.
With AIG selling 97.57% stakes to Nan Shan Life Insurance Company for a deal of $ 2.15 billion, this would definitely help the company raise more money in the corporation. The recent studies show that there is a double digit increase in the profits made by these companies in September 2009. This sector is experiencing a strong income growth. With the onset of the winters there has been a 2% rise in the prices of oil. The 2% gain in the oil prices is due to more fuel demand. The north east and the Midwest have been hit by the cold weather lately. To keep pace with the economic recovery from the crisis in the credit, fuel prices have increased to meet with the growing demand. The crude oil rose from $1.50 to $73.27 per barrel.
There have also been signs of fall in the value of US dollar. The US currency saw a 14 months low as compared with the other foreign currencies. This decline further supported this idea of hike in the oil prices to meet up with the growing demand. Traders and businessmen see signs of economic recovery, which would help in catching up with the prices of fuel. This hike in the oil prices is seen after a long period of six weeks. With the climate getting colder there is more need and demand for heating fuel. The OPEC countries also said that now the world is undergoing a new phase, leaving behind the crisis and entering into the phase of economic recovery.

Obama and the Congress promised on the healthcare provision and the cost control measures will not be an immediate outcome. These reforms would not cut down on the healthcare cost entirely but to some extent. The bill is said to be under construction and once passed, it will become the legit law in the country. The healthcare overhaul will aim at providing low cost healthcare to the people who can’t afford the present healthcare cost, and this will ultimately help the citizens to afford good quality health care treatment which is not otherwise affordable. According to leading analysts in the country, they estimate that there will be a hike in the taxes once the healthcare bill is passed in the House.
In another unrelated news, it seems that Obama has cancelled plans to setup an anti ballistic missile defense system in Eastern Europe. When the American administration planned to deploy the missile defense shield, it drew flak in the European continent, whereby Russia vowed to deploy their own short range ground-to-ground missiles near Poland. With Obama’s decision to pull the plug on the deal, this might somehow show a negative perception towards the United States in which it might show as a sign of weakness. Nevertheless, with the cancellation of the missile shield plans, this also helped to divert weapons of mass destruction from being deployed in Europe.
